Amethyst

This has traditionally been worn for its sobering influence on overindulgence, be it physical or emotional. Throughout the many cultures who have valued amethyst, there has been a recognition that this is a stone which offers spiritual protection and purification. A classic meditation partner, this stone stimulates the third eye, crown, and etheric chakras. Placed under your pillow, amethyst is said to bring relief from nightmares and insomnia. Like other members of the Quartz family, it will fade if left in direct sunlight for a prolonged time.
